Basketball great Michael Jordan and Nike founder are being sued for the astounding sum of $832 million dollars. Why are they being sued? Perhaps Jordan and Nike reneged on a contract or were negligent in some regard…no they are being sued because, according to Allen Heckard of Portland, Jordan bares an uncanny resemblance to Mr. Heckard, which has caused a great deal of stress for Heckard throughout the course of his adult life. If ever there were legitimate grounds to adopt a looser pays system in the US, this would be the case. To call Heckard case frivolous would be a gross understatement.
“I’m constantly being accused of looking like Michael and it makes it very uncomfortable for me,” Heckard said.
While its unclear whether Heckard will represent himself in this case, considering he filed the suit himself, one thing is for certain, this case will never reach trial and if it does, we might as well scrap the entire system and start anew. When questioned about the $832 million figure, Heckard could offer no valid basis for the estimate but went on to say it was difficult to place a value on a man’s life as if his life is threatened by the occasional misidentification, which in and of itself is doubtful.
This case represents the latest in a growing litigious trend where individuals seek monetary reward for little or no offense whatsoever and with no legal basis, beyond that which is imagined. The premise that a person can be sued for their genetics (i.e., how they look) is preposterous, and what exactly was Nike’s role in this grand conspiracy to ruin the life of Allen Heckard? In reality Heckard is either a fool or simply wants attention.

Just let all of you fools know a stipulation were reached between Heckard, Michael and Phil knight regarding the suit. Now, how many of you would like to know what happen.Smile at that while you are on your way to work.
It really is of no consequence the civil action was devoid of logic and the person who pursued it is equally so…
