According to a number of reports, several countries, including France, Germany and Italy have dolled out huge sums to Iraqi insurgents in the form of ransoms paid to secure the release of hostages.
On average, nations as well as firms operating in Iraq, have paid sums ranging from 2.5 to 10 million dollars to secure the release of hostages held in the clutches of Iraq’s Islamic radicals.
It is no surprise that such kidnappings continue in Iraq, given the lucrative nature of the kidnapping business in that country. Sadly, the spirit of Munich lives on as these appeasing nations have learned nothing from history and as a result murderers and tyrants are regularly rewarded for their transgressions.
It should also come as no surprise that nations like the US, Britain and Japan have seen a marked decline in such offensives committed against their citizens since these governments have refused to coddle and reward terrorists.
For every man woman and child that is kidnapped in Iraq, we can thank the likes of France, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Turkey, Sweden and Romania for appeasing and funding terrorists. Indeed, future victims should seek restitution from these governments for financing the operations of terrorists…
