100,000 California 12th grades shouldn’t have passed 8th grade….

Before graduating and receiving their high school diplomas, California 12th graders must pass a comprehensive graduation exam. Many states have implemented such tests, in an effort to improve standards. These tests, by a large are a joke and those unable to pass demonstrate the failure of parents who refuse to instill a value and appreciation of learning in their children. According to state officials, the test doesnít even require 12th grade proficiency. Indeed the California test evaluates a studentís mathematical ability on an 8th grade level. An 8th grade level!!!! What 17 year old canít pass an 8th grade math test? What kind of students are they producing in California when 20% of the graduating class canít pass the simplest of tests? Many of these students can look forward to an illustrious career s4erving fast food or cleaning up garbage. Indeed, high school is perhaps the easiest period in a personís life, short of infancy. If they canít get past high school, what hope do they have? As California teachers note, many high schoolers are unprepared, frequently absent, have little parental involvement and are unmotivated. Perhaps they will be motivated by poverty and lack of opportunity, but then again we are talking about California, a bastion of leftist propaganda, which dictates that if you wonít do for yourself, then the government will. These leftists have only themselves to blame; this mental deficiency on the part of California students is a direct result of a culture which glorifies athletes and rock musicians, while ignoring the valuable accomplishments of scientist and business leaders. This is a direct result of a culture, which teaches that children are never wrong and nothing is ever their fault, including failure. We can expect this trend to continue until California and the rest of America wake up. In light of recent failures in California, however, state officials have taken the opposite approach they have lessened the rigorousness of the already watered down test, they have also delayed its full implementation by two years. This as students in other countries embrace more difficult subject matter and quickly outpace their American counterparts. Way to go California! Way to prepare the next generation for the real world!
